PDRN Injections

Biostimulation with polynucleotides is one of our favorite methods for rejuvenating the appearance and improving the quality of the skin. The procedures does not only tighten and thicken the skin, but also lead to natural lifting effect prevent flabbiness, moisturize, protect and restore the skin.

Nucleotides or polynucleotides (PDRNs) are biopolymers, as is hyaluronic acid. They consist of links of two different nucleic acids DNA and RNA, which are extracted from the milk of trout, salmon or sturgeon fish. Why fish? The DNA structure of the milk of these fish species is as similar as possible to the DNA of human leukocytes. And for humans, their use is completely safe.

One of the mechanisms of skin aging is the accumulation of various damages in the structure of DNA and RNA molecules of the cell. So-called “breakdowns” begin in their molecules, which triggers the mechanisms of cell death. And from that moment aging begins. The effect of polynucleotides in special preparations is that they restore existing damage by replacing broken nucleotides in DNA and RNA. Their main function is to recognize and repair damage.

There is absolutely no reason to be worried. Molecules in PDRN products for aesthetic medicine are negligible (50-20,000 pairs of nucleotides) compared to the several million pairs of nucleotides that form genes. Therefore, they are not able to transfer and modify genetic information. In this case, polynucleotides work as a kind of “repair agent” – they restore only damaged nucleotides. Thus, we can talk about the safety of products based on PDRN.

Possessing an immunomodulatory effect, polynucleotides stimulate the processes of regeneration and repair, enhance the synthesis of elastin, collagen and non-collagen molecules. Promotes optimal hydration, as well as protection against UVA and UVB. Which in turn leads to a general improvement in skin condition, rejuvenation and lifting effect. At the same time, polynucleotides are able to adsorb and neutralize free radicals, cleansing the skin of toxins. The indisputable advantage of polynucleotides is the ability to stimulate physiological processes, rejuvenating not only the appearance, but the entire body. Smart acids provoke the growth of young functional structures, and do not squeeze out the last forces from the existing ones, which can no longer provide the skin with hyaluronic acid.

The main ingredient in biorevitalization is pure concentrated hyaluronic acid while PDRN injections is a bio-stimulant gel made from polynucleotides.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring compound found in skin, muscle, and joints. The ability of HA to readily bind to water molecules and HA being able to draw up to 1000 times its weight in water, makes biorevitalization ideal for providing excellent hydration to the skin. The high concentration of pure HA in biorevitalization is also able to encourage bio-remodeling via inducing the body’s natural healing response to increase collagen and elastin by stimulating fibroblast cells, improving the skin’s structure, elasticity, and firmness, giving the skin a plump and dewy look.

While PDRN are also able to bind to water to provide deep hydration to the skin, they not draw in as much water as biorevitalization. Thus, PDRN may be more suitable for areas of the face with thinner skin where excessive water retention is undesirable.

Unlike biorevitalization, PDRN therapy is a bio-stimulant capable of activating fibroblast cells into type I collagen and elastin producing myofibroblasts by directly stimulates specific receptors on the fibroblast cells, achieving bio-regeneration and rejuvenation of the skin due to the sustained and increased production of collagen by myofibroblasts. Results for PDRN therapy also typically last longer than biorevitalization.

In summary, these two treatments are compatible with each other and can be combined for better results.

• Immediately after tissue stimulating injections the treatment area may be red, tender or swollen. There may be red raised bumps in the injection sites, these effects will usually be resolved by 2 days.
• For significant swelling contact your doctor for advice. Swelling may be reduced by regular cold compress, anti-inflammatory medicines such as Ibuprofen (after 24 hours, if safe for you to take), antihistamines and sleeping with your head propped up on 3 pillows to help drainage of fluid overnight.
• Bruising may occur following treatment, bruising will resolve naturally but may take up to 2 weeks to settle.
• Regular application of Arnica cream may be helpful for bruising.
• Avoid any makeup for 24 hours after treatment as this will reduce the risk of infection or acne.
• Drink plenty of water after treatment to keep well hydrated.
• Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours after treatment.
• Avoid medications such as aspirin or Ibuprofen for 24 hours as they are blood thinning agents and may worsen bruising (if these medications have been advised by your GP you must check with your GP before stopping them)
• Avoid any excess sun exposure, extremes of hot/cold, saunas, swimming or strenuous exercise until the redness and swelling has settled.
