Hyperpigmentation of the skin or the formation of age spots is one of the most difficult and at the same time common dermatological and aesthetic imperfections.

IPL phototherapy is one of the most effective treatments for skin hyperpigmentation. When the patient applies diagnostics is carried out to determine the type of pigmentation. The reason that led to this pathology is identified without fail. The methods and effectiveness of the treatment of pigmentation directly depend on the correct determination of the etiology of the disease. The practitioners of Aether Clinic have extensive experience in the successful treatment of even the most difficult cases of hyperpigmentation using IPL phototherapy.

  • Elimination of any types of pigmentation
  • Lack of rehabilitation
  • During the procedure, the integrity of the skin is not disturbed

What problems does it solve (testimony)?

IPL therapy indicate for the following forms of pigmentation disorders:

  • freckles
  • melasma (large brown spots)
  • chloasma (occurs due to increased production of pigment, for example, during pregnancy)
  • pigmented spots after acne

How is the procedure going?

Before the session a doctor cleanses the skin and applies a cooling gel to evenly distribute the thermal energy released by the flash of light. The patient’s eyes are protected by dark glasses. A doctor uses an individual attachment for the affected skin areas (intense pulsed light with a wavelength of 515-1200 nm), through which a directional flash is produced. During the procedure a series of short flashes of light occur, lasting hundredths of a second. Only melanin is sensitive to the light pulses emitted by the device. Under the influence of light, transforming into heat, the pigment is destroyed. At the same time, the structure of other healthy cells is not damaged.

Special light filters allow you to adjust the wavelength, and light flashes penetrate into different layers of the skin. Therefore the initiation of the processes of skin renewal and rejuvenation begins at the cellular level and occurs naturally.

The duration of the session is no more than 40 minutes. After the procedure, a soothing cream is applied to the treated areas. There may be slight redness and swelling of the skin, which will subside within 2-3 hours. The pigmented areas first darken, and soon peel off, and healthy cells appear on the treated areas. The complexion becomes uniform, the pigmentation is lightened.

Recommendations before and after face phototherapy

Before using the IPL method for pigmentation spots, it is necessary to consult our doctor.

When will I see the results?

The duration of the course depends on the phototype of the patient’s skin, the cause of hyperpigmentation, the degree of its manifestation and the area of the affected tissues. On average, a pronounced lasting result in uncomplicated cases can be obtained after 3-4 procedures, which are carried out with an interval of 3-4 weeks.
