Home⁄Treatments⁄Laser Hair Removal with Candela GentleMax Pro
What device do we use for laser hair removal and how does it work?
The Candela GentleMaxPro device (USA) used is an alexandrite- Nd:Yag laser, which combines 2 types of lasers that are the “gold standard” of aesthetic medicine – the long-pulse alexandrite laser GentleLase Pro U with a wavelength of 755 nm and the long-pulse Nd:Yag neodymium laser GentleYag Pro U with wavelength 1064 nm.
The basis of laser radiation is the scientific principle of selective photothermolysis, which reduces the growth of unwanted hair and completely removes it. During hair removal with Candela GentleMax Pro, the wavelength is selected individually and the laser beam is pointed directly to the hairs. The pigment that is responsible for hair color is called melanin; it absorbs light from laser radiation and converts it into heat, under the influence of which the hair structure is destroyed. Hair no longer grows in this place. The laser beam does not violate the integrity of the skin and does not cause any side effects. As a result of the procedure, not only hair, but also pigment spots are effectively and quickly removed, and thanks to a special mode, the production of collagen and elastin is stimulated, the skin texture is evened out, as a result of which the skin is rejuvenated and becomes smooth after the procedure.
Only hairs in the active growth phase are exposed to the laser; hair in the “dormant” state will not be damaged. That is why to completely get rid of hair, several sessions are needed with an interval of 1-1.5 months.
Thanks to DCD (Dynamic Cooling Device) skin cooling technology, you will not experience any discomfort. The Candela GentleMax Pro laser eliminates unwanted hair in 4-8 treatments safely, painlessly and permanently.
How is the procedure performed?
For 2-3 weeks it is necessary to exclude any tanning, including solariums and self-tanning. Stop taking antibiotics 2 weeks before. 1-2 days before the procedure, unwanted hair in the treatment area must be removed with a razor.
During the procedure, the patient wears special glasses to protect the eyes, the specialist treats the hair removal area with a disinfectant or removes makeup (if laser hair removal is on the face). Afterwards, the doctor selects individual parameters and laser treatment is performed on selected areas of the body or face. Laser exposure generally does not cause pain or discomfort. The procedure takes from 10 to 70 minutes, depending on the zone.
During the procedure with the GentleMax Pro laser, there is no need to apply anesthetic cream to the skin. Thanks to the unique dynamic cooling system, patients experience virtually no discomfort during the procedure. 3 milliseconds before the laser beam flashes, liquid cryogen, an environmentally friendly and safe cooling substance, is directed to the corresponding area of the skin. Therefore, the skin simply does not have time to overheat at the time of laser exposure.
Possible slight redness immediately after the procedure is a normal reaction that usually goes away within a few hours. To soften the skin, a moisturizing cream or panthenol is applied at the end of the procedure.
In which areas of the body can laser hair removal be performed?
Laser hair removal can be performed on any area of the face and body for both women and men.
How many procedures are required to complete the course?
Depending on the phototype, hair color, hormonal levels and the area being treated, the number of procedures for the complete course will differ. As a rule, for complete laser hair removal in the armpit area, 3–5 procedures are required, on the legs – 5–6, on the back – about 8, in the bikini area – 6-8 procedures. The procedures are carried out at intervals of 1–1.5 months.
Melanin contained in hair absorbs light waves of a certain length. The laser emits exactly the amount of light that the hair shaft is able to absorb, reaching the follicle, greatly heating it and destroying the hair follicle. The effectiveness of the procedure is noticeable after the first procedure. The laser effectively removes both dark and fair (vellus) hair.
When will I see the result?
After the first procedure, the amount of hair is reduced by up to 50%, its growth slows down, hairs become thinner and lighter. After completing the full course, the hair is removed forever. Under the influence of energy, the follicle is destroyed and hair falls out approximately 7-14 days after the procedure. Next, hair will begin to grow on the treated area again, but it will be much softer, thinner and lighter. At this point it is recommended to repeat the procedure. The peculiarity of the laser hair removal method is that during one procedure, laser pulses affect only those hairs that are actively growing at the time of the procedure. Accordingly, hair that is in the catagen (sleep) phase cannot be exposed to the laser. Therefore, a complete course of procedures is required to affect all hairs. In the future, it is enough to carry out maintenance procedures 1 procedure per year.
How long do the results last?
The minimum duration of laser hair removal results is 3-5 years. On average, our patients’ results last for 5-7 years. In some patients, body hair growth stops permanently. To maintain a permanent effect, you need to undergo one preventive procedure every 6-12 months. Thus, the result will last permanently.

What are the benefits of Candela GentleMax Pro laser hair removal at Aether Clinic?
The shortest number of procedures for getting rid of unwanted hair.
Alexandrite lasers have the most optimal wavelength for affecting the melanin in the hair, which hits the target precisely – the hair follicle. For most patients, 4-8 procedures are enough to get rid of unwanted hair forever. The interval between sessions is from 4-6 weeks.
No discomfort or pain. This is true – the Candela GentleMax Pro device cools the skin before the laser flash, and the cooling occurs not with simple air (like most other devices), but with cryogenic cooling gas. There are no other lasers that have analogues of this patented system.
No restrictions. GentleMax Pro laser hair removal works effectively with skin phototypes I-IV and any hair color.
The procedure is very comfortable and quick.
During the procedure, you do not need to use a gel (to which the skin can react in unexpected ways!). The laser has a large light spot size (up to 2.4 cm) and a high pulse frequency. Due to this, the procedure with the Candela GentleMax Pro device is much faster than with many other lasers. Laser hair removal for armpits takes 7-10 minutes, bikini – 15-20 minutes, legs – 30 minutes, whole body – 60-70 minutes.
High efficiency. In our clinic, the procedure is performed by doctors or nurses. Our medical staff correctly calculate the intervals between visits based on the individual hair growth. Also, the device system has a built-in computer that allows you to diagnose skin type, hair structure and pigment concentration, thanks to which we can select individual procedure parameters.
You will get rid of unwanted hair forever in just 4-8 procedures (with a break of 1-1.5 months).
Guaranteed 95% hair removal in 6 sessions (with the following the recommendations of your doctor at Aether Clinic).
